Uber HQ has Arrived at its New Destination
Principal Builders, working with architecture firm Studio O + A, has just wrapped on building a new 90,000 SF space for Uber, the 4-year old San Francisco technology company whose app connects riders with driver partners across 130 cities worldwide. Uber’s vision for its new headquarters was unequivocal-give employees the same exceptional and seamless experience that Uber riders enjoy.
It was also an opportunity to establish a creative collaboration. Beginning in late July with pre-construction, Principal Builders’ approach included custom detailing and emphasized integrating functional programmatic requirements with the design intent. The space takes its design cues from Uber’s own DNA specifically, a painted floor track features a map of San Francisco, the glass elevator lobby was designed and built to reflect the “UberBlack product,” and city maps made from different mediums fill the space. We are thrilled to have been a part of this signature build-out and wish Uber the best in their new space.
